Επόμενη στάση στο Μεσογειακό ταξίδι του έργου #DESTIMEDPLUS, η προστατευόμενη περιοχή της Βόρειας Καρπάθου και Σαρίας, με εταίρο την ΕΝΕΡΓΕΙΑΚΗ Α.Ε!

NO 4: At stop number 4 on our #DESTIMEDPLUS journey around the Med, we find the Protected Area of North Karpathos Island, Saria Island and coastal zone which includes the north part of Karpathos Island and the Saria Island. These islands lie between a narrow sea line called the Saria Strait. This region is rich in biodiversity and has a diverse range of endemic species. Notably, it is the habitat of one of the largest populations of Mediterranean Monk Seals in Europe and is known as an important European area for birds. The islands are recognizable by their cliffs and rocky coasts, which are typical of the Aegean Region and provide unique aesthetic value, as well as, great archaeological and cultural importance!

The Regional Development Agency of South Aegean Region is one of #DESTIMEDPLUS project partners! By participating in #DESTIMEDPLUS will have the opportunity to promote sustainable tourism and the reasonable use of the environment in the islands of the Region. This region has chosen the Protected Area of North Karpathos Island, Saria Island and coastal zone as their pilot site for the project! With support from #DESTIMEDPLUS project, @READSADevelopmentAgency will work with protected area managers and local stakeholders from the tourism and conservation communities to develop an ecotourism product in North Karpathos and Saria Island.
